Still standing on the beach north of Caesarea, the graceful arches carrying the water channels of the high level aqueduct are reminders of the grandeur of this ancient city. Built in two sections parallel along their lengths, the aqueduct is seen here from the west. Inscriptions found on this western channel tell us that this channel was built by the soldiers of the Roman legions commanded by Hadrian in the second century A.D.
