Resting in peace. Only one intact skeleton was discovered in the Masada cave. But author Zias believes all of the skeletons were once laid out as neatly as this one, because hand and feet bones are shown in the correct anatomical positions in some of the newly available photographs. The scattering of the bones, in Zias’s opinion, was not the result of the Romans flinging the corpses of the Jewish defenders into the cave, but a hallmark of animals getting to the bodies shortly after their burial.
