THE WISDOM OF THE AGED. Every person has a role to play in Bedouin tribal society. Older Bedouin men like Salem are revered for their experience, wisdom, observation and resourcefulness. The Bedouin are adept at knowing where to dig for water, and Salem even taught author Meshel how and where to strike a rock to get water, much like Moses did for the Israelites in the desert (Numbers 20:11).
