Having had a fascination with archaeology since childhood, Trude Dothan began her archaeological career in 1948 while still a young soldier serving in the Israeli army. She joined her professor Benjamin Mazar in excavating the early Philistine site of Tell Qasile, now located in a northern suburb of Tel Aviv (shown here).
