Vanished splendor. Lavishly decorated by both its namesakes, the Temple of Ay and Horemheb boasted fine reliefs and statuary. A 36-foot-high columned hall from the original Temple of Ay, with an oversized statue of the pharaoh on the left, is shown here in a reconstruction drawing.

Today only rubble remains of the Temple of Ay and Horemheb. It is not clear when exactly or why the temple was razed, but it must have still been standing during the reign of Ramesses III.
