PANTOCRATOR TOKEN. Christ sits on a throne—in the Pantocrator (“ruler of all”) pose—on this token. His right hand is raised in a blessing, and his left hand holds a copy of the scriptures. Uncovered by archaeologists near Nicea’s basilica, the token has a diameter of 1.5 inches and dates to the fifth or sixth century.
