DEFEATING DEATH. A fresco on the outside of the Church of St. George from the Voronet Monastery in Woronetz, Romania, portrays Easter—the moment of Jesus’s resurrection—according to the Universal Resurrection Tradition. Carrying a cross, Jesus tramples on the doors of Hades and pulls Adam and Eve out of their graves. David and Solomon appear to the left of Jesus, and John the Baptist is visible on the right. Another cross appears inside Jesus’s halo, and the doors of Hades are also patterned like a cross. This fresco dates to the 1400s.
