THE CANAANITE BURIAL CUSTOMS of the Hyksos are exemplified by this horse burial found next to the throne room of the palace at Avaris. Such ceremonial slaughter and burial of equids, often alongside human remains, is found both at Hyksos Avaris and at several Canaanite sites but has rarely been discovered elsewhere.
