The ancient monuments of Greece, Italy, Egypt and Asia Minor are celebrated in this stunning display of over 100 19th-century photographs at the Getty Villa, which recently reopened after an extensive renovation project. Highlighting the work of such pioneering photographers as Joseph-Philibert Girault de Prangey, who traveled to the Middle East in the early 1840s to document important archaeological sites, this exhibit features a rare and beautiful collection of early photographs and daguerreotypes that will be of particular interest to archaeological scholars and enthusiasts alike.

The common roots of Judaism and Christianity are the focus of this captivating exhibition at the Maltz Museum. In an effort to synthesize literary sources with recent archaeological finds in Israel, several noteworthy artifacts will be on display. The Temple Scroll, one of the largest and most important discoveries among the Dead Sea Scrolls, will be on view for the first time ever. Other significant items include a full-scale reconstruction of a Byzantine church chancel, the ossuary of Caiaphas and an inscription bearing the name of Pontius Pilate.
