CERRO DEL VILLAR ARCHAEOLOGICAL PROJECT / COURTESY OF MARÍA EUGENIA AUBET
FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC. Cerro del Villar was a major pottery production center that maintained strong connections with Phoenician styles and traditions. Kilns at the site are virtually identical to those discovered at Phoenician sites in the Levant. This amphora is a locally produced vessel, yet its form is typical Phoenician. At the same time, however, the mercantile character of the community led to the import of goods from trading partners spanning the Mediterranean.
