AZEKAH’S LAST DEFENDERS. Excavations of the temple revealed five individuals who were killed in the destruction of Azekah at the end of the 12th century BCE. All the victims were men between the ages of 16 and 55. Two sets of remains were found in the courtyard area, while the other three individuals were probably on the roof of the temple when it was destroyed.
