COURTESY LAUTENSCHLÄGER AZEKAH EXPEDITION

MIXED TRADITIONS. The various small objects unearthed in the temple at Azekah reveal a blend of local and foreign influences on the site’s religious character. A fragment of an Egyptian triad amulet, measuring about an inch wide, bears a hieroglyphic inscription on one side and on the other depicts the falcon-headed god Re-Horakhty (center) with Seth to his right (left side of image) and Hathor to his left.
