SARDINIANS ABROAD. Traces of Sardinians in the eastern Mediterranean include their characteristic pottery and weapons. At the major Cypriot site of Hala Sultan Tekke, for instance, archaeologists found several Sardinian everyday bowls known as Nuragic Gray Ware that date from the 13th century. Across the Levant, the presence of Sardinian warriors is similarly attested through their characteristic longswords (above), which have been discovered at sites as distant as Alalakh, Ugarit, and Gezer.
