STRANGER THINGS. From the final phase of cultic activity at Tell Qasile comes also a cylindrical cup with a bottom fashioned into the face of a hippo. Like similarly crafted vessels from contemporary Cyprus, it must have been used during religious ceremonies. Such cups could be inverted without any liquid pouring out, earning them the name “trick vases.”
