Model shrine from stratum X temple at Tell Qasile

SHRINE MODEL. Constructed as a flat slab, this ceramic shrine model was found at the foot of the temple’s raised platform, where it likely served as the main religious object during the temple’s final stage. It represents a temple façade fashioned in Egyptian style, with two attached figures as well as hinges that would have supported a wooden door for closing the model. Intentionally broken off, the two female figures may have represented goddesses. Unfortunately, we do not know what deity or deities were worshiped at the site’s temples.
