Alain Zivie

A former Scientific Member of the French Institute of Oriental Archaeology in Cairo (IFAO) and Director of Research Emeritus at the National Centre of Scientific Research (CNRS) in Paris, Alain Zivie is the founding Director of the French Archaeological Mission of the Bubasteion at Saqqara (MAFB). He is also the founding President of the non-profit organization Hypogées (www.hypogees.org), whose purpose is to support the work of the MAFB. He has been a Fellow of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, in 2001 and 2002, a William K. Simpson Visiting Professor at the American University in Cairo (2008), and a visiting scholar and then Associate in Harvard’s Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations (2013–2016).
