Brian Hesse

Brian Hesse (d. 2011) was a Professor of Jewish Studies, Anthropology and Ancient Mediterranean Studies at Pennsylvania State University and a leading specialist on ancient animal bones and the zooarchaeology of the Levant.  With his wife, Paula Wapnish, he authored of Animal Bone Archaeology (Taraxacum, 1985). Wapnish and Hesse served as zooarchaeologists for excavations at sites across the Near East, including Ashkelon, Megiddo, Beth Shemesh, Tel Miqne/Ekron and Tel Dan.
