John R. Hale

John R. Hale’s interests range from the Delphic Oracle to Phoenician ships in the harbors of ancient Iberia. An archaeologist with the University of Louisville, he is author of Lords of the Sea: The Epic Story of the Athenian Navy and the Birth of Democracy (Penguin, 2010).
