Ruth Hestrin

Ruth Hestrin (d. 1993) was the Curator of the Israelite and Persian Periods at the Israel Museum, organizing the Inscription Pavilion and other archaeological displays including a comprehensive exhibition on the Philistines.  She received her M.A. in archaeology, Greek language and history, and Hebrew philology from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Hestrin authored Inscribed Seals of the First Temple Period (Israel Museum, 1979) and several articles on Hebrew and Semitic inscriptions and on cult objects from the Iron Age.
