
Angelos Chaniotis (“Godfearers in the City of Love”) was recently named professor of ancient history in the School of Historical Studies at Princeton University. With a broad range of interests in the ancient Mediterranean world, he has devoted considerable research to the social, cultural and religious history of the Roman East. He has written more than 150 articles on classical history, as well as four books, including his most recent volume, War in the Hellenistic World: A Social and Cultural History (Malden, MA: Blackwell, 2005).
