Christopher A. Rollston (“What’s the Oldest Hebrew Inscription,”) holds a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University, is the editor of Maarav and is the Toyozo Nakarai Professor of Old Testament and Semitic Studies at Emmanuel Christian Seminary in Johnson City, Tennessee. His book Writing and Literacy in Ancient Israel won the 2011 Frank Moore Cross Award from the American Schools of Oriental Research.
Gerard Leval (“Ancient Inscription Refers to Birth of Israelite Monarchy,”) is a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, a practicing lawyer in Washington, DC, and an independent scholar. His native language is French.
Stephen G. Rosenberg (“‘Castle of the Slave’—Mystery Solved,”) is an architect, independent researcher and senior fellow at the W.F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research in Jerusalem. He has worked as an architect for numerous archaeological excavations in Israel, including Lachish, Shiloh and Tel Miqne/Ekron. He earned his Ph.D. in archaeology from University College, London, in 2003.
Edward L. Greenstein (“When Job Sued God,”) is professor of Bible, director of the Institute for Jewish Biblical Interpretation and Straus Distinguished Scholar at Bar-Ilan University in Israel. He taught at Tel Aviv University and the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. Greenstein has edited the Journal of the Ancient Near Eastern Society since 1974 and has published widely in the fields of Biblical and ancient Semitic studies.
