The Brunner Professor Emeritus of Egyptology at the University of Liverpool, Kenneth A. Kitchen (“The Desert Tabernacle”) has written more than 200 articles, reviews and books, including a biography of Ramesses II, Pharaoh Triumphant (Aris & Phillips, 1983). Kitchen has spent years traveling about and recording hieroglyphic inscriptions for his massive 14-volume catalogue of translations and commentary, Ramesside Inscriptions (Blackwell, 1993–).
