John Kaltner (“Abraham’s Sons”) is assistant professor of religious studies at Rhodes College, in Memphis, Tennessee. He is the author of Ishmael Instructs Isaac: An Introduction to the Qur’an for Bible Readers (The Liturgical Press, 1999).

Herbert W. Basser (“Sharing in the Divine”) is professor of theological studies at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He last appeared in BR in June 1998, with his article “The Jewish Roots of the Transfiguration.”

Michael M. Homan (“Jesus the Teetotaler”) is assistant professor of theology at Xavier University of Louisiana. His book To Your Tents, O Israel is forthcoming from Brill; his article “The Divine Warrior in His Tent” appeared in BR 16:06.

Coauthor Mark A. Gstohl is also an assistant professor of theology at Xavier University. He is working on a book about such influential Baptists as Martin Luther King, Muriel Lester and Walter Rauschenbusch.

Michael B. Dick (“Worshiping Idols”) is professor of Hebrew Bible in the Religious Studies Department of Siena College in Loudonville, New York. The editor of Born in Heaven, Made on Earth (Eisenbrauns, 1999), he is particularly interested in understanding the Hebrew Bible on the larger stage of the ancient Near East.
