David R. Cartlidge (“Thecla,”) is Beeson Professor Emeritus of Religion at Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee. An expert on early Christian apocrypha and their impact on church art, he is the author (with Keith Elliott) of Art and the Christian Apocrypha (Routledge, 2001).
A specialist in prophetic literature, Marvin A. Sweeney (“Zephaniah”) is Professor of Hebrew Bible and Religion at Claremont Graduate University, and is Vice President and CEO of the Ancient Biblical Manuscript Center in Claremont, California. He is the author of various commentaries including, most recently, Zephaniah, in the Hermeneia series (Fortress, 2003).
