Merrillees (“Opium for the Masses”) is the author of numerous publications on the archaeology of the Bronze Age Levant, particularly Cyprus and Egypt; his latest book is Nicosia Before Nicosia (A.G. Leventis Foundation, 1992).
Gay Robins (“The Enigma of Hatshepsut”), professor of art history at Emory University, has served as curator of Egyptian Art at the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University, where she coordinated the 1995 exhibition “Reflections of Women in the New Kingdom: Ancient Egyptian Art from the British Museum.” Her most recent publications include Women in Ancient Egypt (1993) and The Art of Ancient Egypt (1997), both published by the British Museum and Harvard University.
An authority on the architecture of Herod the Great, Ehud Netzer (“Floating In the Desert”) has excavated at sites throughout Israel and Jordan—including Jericho, Herodium and Masada, where he worked with Israeli archaeologist Yigael Yadin.
