Next summer (July/August 2009) we will be celebrating the 200th issue of BAR. In preparation for this momentous occasion, we’ve been looking back at all the amazing things and people that have graced the pages of BAR over the years. But the most important is you—our subscribers, who have kept us going for all 200 issues. So, whether you’ve subscribed from the beginning, volunteered on one of our featured digs, or simply enjoyed reading BAR when it arrived in your mailbox every two months, we want to hear from you! Read on, and who knows? Your response could be printed in this special issue of BAR.
Part of what makes BAR unique is our ability to appeal to such a wide audience. So who is our “typical” reader? We’ve put a survey on our Web site to determine everything from what you believe about the Bible to what parts of BAR are your favorites. Go online to www.biblical archaeology.org/survey to complete our reader survey. Participants will receive a $5 coupon for BAS merchandise.
Have you been a BAR subscriber since the very first issue in March 1975? Or perhaps you joined us a little later on and collected all the back-issues. Still have every one? Tell us your story: How did you hear about BAR? How has BAR changed since you started reading? What have you liked or disliked over the years? Send us an e-mail or a letter to the address below.
For the past 29 years, our annual dig issue has connected hundreds of volunteers with excavations in Israel and the Mediterranean world. Are you a former dig volunteer or scholarship winner featured in BAR? Send us an update: What are you doing now? Still digging? How did your experience affect your life? How involved are you in Biblical archaeology today? Write to us at:
