Donors Thanked by Archaeologist Barkay

To the Editor:

Let me express in these few words my deep gratitude to the BAR readers for their generous contributions to our dig at the “Shoulder of Hinnom” in Jerusalem. Their generosity enabled us to take some important steps forward in the recording, processing, drawing, photographing, and analysis of the very rich material which was found in our excavations.

The short article in BAR [“The Divine Name Found in Jerusalem,” BAR 09:02] has generated much interest in these rich finds. I hope to write a more detailed article for BAR readers in the future. Any further contributions would be most welcome, as we have a lot more to do, and the site promises further surprising discoveries.

Addendum

In “Of Hems and Tassels,” BAR 09:03, drawings of hems and tassels depicted in art of the ancient Near East should have been credited to Stephen Bertman. They were first published in “Tasseled Garments in the Ancient East Mediterranean,” Biblical Archaeologist 24 (1961), pp. 119–128.
