One hundred twenty-five years ago, the “American School of Oriental Study and Research in Palestine” was established in Jerusalem. In 1921, it was incorporated in the United States and began to use the name American Schools of Oriental Research (ASOR), which in 2021 was renamed the American Society of Overseas Research, maintaining the familiar acronym.
