Two hundred is a significant number in the Bible. It’s the full count of Philistine foreskins that young David presented to Saul as a bride-price for the king’s daughter (1 Samuel 18:27). It was the weight, in shekels, of Absalom’s clippings every time he cut his thick, wavy hair (2 Samuel 14:26). It’s the number of pomegranates that adorned the capitals of each of the two columns in Solomon’s Temple (1 Kings 7:20). And it’s how many singing men and women accompanied Ezra and the 42,000 on the return to Jerusalem from Babylonian exile (Ezra 2:65).
Now 200 will become a significant number for BAR as well. In July/August 2009 we will publish our 200th issue, and we want to hear from you.
