September 2007 A.D. Thirty ancient beehives were excavated in Israel at Tel Rehov under the directorship of Amihai Mazar. Located in the “land of milk and honey,” these hives testify to an apiculture (honey and beekeeping) industry in the Iron Age, dating approximately from the mid-tenth to the early ninth century B.C.
