In a recent review1 of a final report of an excavation at Sepphoris, Israel, Professor Kenneth G. Holum of the University of Maryland remarked on a troubling feature of the volume.2 The report was published by the well-known academic publisher Brill of Leiden, the Netherlands.
“Although technical imperfections do mar this work, it is still a thoughtful and creditable report on a careful and successful excavation. Less praiseworthy was the choice of a publisher that put this relatively slim volume [170 pages] on the market for the outlandish price of $188.00!”
