Milestone: Phyllis Trible (1932–2025)

Internationally renowned biblical scholar Phyllis Trible passed away on October 17, 2025, at the age of 92. She was a pioneer in feminist biblical studies whose teaching and writing changed how generations of scholars came to understand the task of biblical interpretation. Trible received her bachelor’s degree in religion from Meredith College. She graduated with her Ph.D. in Old Testament studies in 1963, having completed the joint doctoral program offered by Union Theological Seminary and Columbia University.
