High on an elevated tongue of rocky marl, the site of Qumran commands a spectacular view over the northern end of the Dead Sea. Dotting the cliffs around the site are the 11 caves in which the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Across 50 years, BAR has featured Qumran and the scrolls perhaps more than any other discovery in biblical archaeology.
