Tel Gezer
25 miles northwest of Jerusalem, southeast of Ben-Gurion airport
2006 Season: June 4–July 7 (minimum stay of 2 weeks); Application deadline is April 1.
Dates of site Occupation: Chalcolithic through Byzantine period
Important Finds: Middle Bronze Age gate, “High Place,” “Solomonic Gate,” water system, Gezer calendar, cuneiform tablets
Goals for 2006: Expose Iron Age remains near the fortifications west of Palace 10000 and south of Field III, adjacent to the “Solomonic Gate.”
Room & Board: $1650 for full season ($1500 for students of consortium schools)
Accommodations: Kibbutz Revadim; bathroom in each unit, A/C, pool
Credits/Tuition/Institutions: Two 3-unit courses available through the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary

10 miles south of Tel Aviv
2006 Season: July 2–August 4 (minimum stay of 2 weeks)
Dates of site Occupation: Bronze Age through Ottoman period
Important Finds: Iron Age C destruction layer, Persian settlement layer, Hasmonean destruction layer, flourishing Byzantine harbor city, Early Islamic fortifications
Goals for 2006: Excavate new areas to study the extension of the settlement through the periods, based on results of geophysical investigations carried out in 2005.
Room & Board: $350/week
Accommodations: Ayanot Youth Village; 4 per room, private bathroom, A/C
Credits/Tuition/Institutions: No credits offered, but intensive training and evening courses on the archaeology and history of the Holy Land and current affairs are given daily. One day trip to another site is offered every 2 weeks.
