Chief Justice Moore’s monument has now been removed, pursuant to federal court decisions finding the monument’s presence in the Alabama State Judicial Building’s rotunda to be an unconstitutional governmental “establishment of religion.” After the U.S. Supreme Court refused a request to block the monument from being removed, Chief Justice Moore was suspended for refusing to comply with the federal court’s order that the monument must be removed.
