For more on the wedding contract, see Amos Kloner and Esther Eshel, “An Aramaic Ostracon of an Edomite Marriage Contract from Maresha, Dated 176 B.C.E.,” Israel Exploration Journal 46:1–2 (1996), pp. 1–22.
The first line of the contract indicates the document was written in the Seleucid year 136 (dating from the Hellenistic king Seleucus’ foundation of a dynasty, based in Syria, in 312 B.C.E.) or 176 B.C.E. The month Sivan, also mentioned in line 1, corresponds to June.
