Endnote 2 – The Sacrifice of Jephthah’s Daughter

In both Aeschylus’s Agamemnon and Sophocles’s Electra, Iphigenia is sacrificed without any last-minute reprieve. Indeed, much of Agamemnon tells of the vengeance wrought by Clytemnestra upon her husband for the death of their child.
