The translation is quoted from the article in BAR. Cross cites the verse as Malachi 4:2, which is based on the Septuagint. In the Masoretic Text the verse is 3:20. Cross, in his note 8, acknowledges Lawrence Stager for bringing to his attention the verse and its meaning. However, the meaning of this verse is not at all clear.
