Endnote 60 – Israel in Egypt: The Egyptian Sojourn and the Exodus
See Hoffmeier, Israel in Egypt, p. 140. The divine name seems to have been omitted in the case of Moses. This does sometimes occur in Egyptian records. Or the divine element may have been suppressed by the biblical writer, who would hardly want the name of such a central figure in the development of Israelite religion to suggest allegiance to a foreign god. See Redmount, “Bitter Lives”, pp. 88–89.
