Perhaps mipleset is a cacophemism for meápalesset, which means “plane, sculptor’s chisel” and possibly, like peásîl (Berakot 4:8a, Pirke d’Rabbi Eliezer 30), “hewn image” (cf. Aramaic miplastaµ’, “sculptor’s work, engraving”).
