Footnote 1 – The Workers’ Tombs

In the New Kingdom (1550–1075 B.C.E.), pharaohs no longer constructed pyramid tombs. Instead they carved their subterranean tombs beneath the natural pyramidal mountain, el-Qurn, overlooking the Valley of the Kings.
