Members of archaeologist Richard Hodges’s team painstakingly clean the multi-colored mosaic floor (see detail of mosaic floor) of Butrint’s baptistry. In addition to restoring the mosaic pavement to its original luster, Hodges hopes to preserve other structures at Butrint and to rescue the site from the vegetation threatening its walls and pavements.
