Karageorghis discovered this 9-inch-high tubular vase, also engraved with Cypro-syllabic characters, in the courtyard of an adjacent temple. The vase was probably used for burning opium. The drug was placed on burning charcoal, with the vase’s two small openings at the base providing ventilation for the fire (compare with photo of ivory pipe).
