Electioneering slogans painted on the facade of this house contain the names of two Pompeiian officials; thus it has been called the House of Paquius Proculus or Cuspius Pansa. The floor of the house’s atrium (shown here) is decorated with mosaic panels with depictions of animals. In another room were the remains of seven children, who had sought shelter when Vesuvius erupted in 79 A.D., destroying the ancient city.
