Many archaeologists consider this 7-inch-long, 24-carat-gold sauceboat the real jewel of Priam’s Treasure. Similar gold and ceramic vessels with one spout and a single handle have been found throughout the Aegean, but this double-spouted, two-handled gold sauceboat is unique. Because of its unusual shape, many scholars suspect that the sauceboat had a ritual function.
