Well known for their work in art preservation, Walters conservators Terry Drayman-Weisser (shown here) and Abigail Quandt were enlisted to help the Georgians restore many decaying objects. When the two first traveled to Georgia in June 1998, they found that most of the objects slated to appear in Land of Myth and Fire were fit to travel but in need of significant restoration to avoid permanent damage. A number of the damaged items were scheduled to arrive at the Walters to undergo repairs just days after the exhibition was canceled on August 4, 1999.
