The main entryway leading to the Armenian Mosaic (shown here) is usually kept locked and barred, but that’s not the only obstacle in the way of casual visitors. The courtyard adjoining the mosaic’s quarters is controlled by an elderly squatter, who uses the area to run a junk business. (Some of his wares can be seen along the right side of this photo.)
