Archaeolgist Peter Pfälzner of Tübingen University, in Germany, has uncovered portions of a platform (shown here) beneath the temple at the top of the tell. From associated pottery, this platform can be dated to about 2700 B.C., hundreds of years earlier than the Hurrians once were thought to be building cities.
