Knees demurely covered by pleated skirts, these 4-inch-high limestone ladies from Ggantija are unlike any other Maltese fertility amulets. All other “fat lady” statuettes are single figures, whereas the Ggantija ladies are paired (compare with photo of the temple’ multi-lobed plan).
