The 3.5-foot-high trilingual Rosetta Stone records a 196 B.C. decree of Egyptian priests honoring Ptolemy V Epiphanes for his support of temples. The upper register is inscribed in hieroglyphics, the middle register in demotic (a cursive script derived from hieratic), and the bottom register in Greek.
